Connect TopstepX

Connect TopstepX (ProjectX) with your username and your own API key.

Before you start

  • TopstepX runs on ProjectX. Outside apps need ProjectX API access. You get it from ProjectX, not from us. It is a paid add-on: check the price on ProjectX's own page.
  • Topstep rules: orders must come from your own computer. No VPS, no cloud. TwinCopier runs on your computer, so it fits this rule.
  • Copying works on Combine and Express Funded accounts only. Topstep does not allow copiers on Live Funded accounts.
  • Turn off TopstepX's own copier on these accounts first.

Steps

  1. In the ProjectX dashboard, subscribe to API access and link it to TopstepX.
  2. In TopstepX, open Settings › API and create an API key. Copy it.
  3. In the app, open Connections and press Add a login. Choose TopstepX.
  4. Give the login a name, for example "Topstep".
  5. Enter your TopstepX username. This is not your email.
  6. Paste your API key.
  7. Leave API address empty for Topstep. Fill it in only if another firm on ProjectX gives you its own address.
  8. Tick Combine and Express Funded only. Never Live Funded.
  9. Press Connect. Your accounts appear.

Live Funded accounts

The app tags accounts that ProjectX marks as Live Funded. It never copies to or from them.

What we keep

  • Your username and API key are kept in the system keychain on your computer.
  • Our server never sees them.

If you delete the key in TopstepX, the connection stops. Make a new key and enter it again in Connections.

Remove a connection

In Connections, open the login's menu and choose Remove. The app logs out and forgets the login. Your positions and orders stay as they are.
