Kicked out of a session
Why a connection drops when you log in somewhere else, and how to fix it.
Updated
What you see
- A Login dropped alert, and the login is no longer connected in Connections.
- Or your trading platform (TradingView, the Tradovate web app) logs you out when the app connects.
Why
Brokers limit how many sessions one login can have open. When a new one starts, an old one is closed. Every place you are logged in counts: the web platform, a phone app, TradingView's broker panel, another copier, and TwinCopier.
- Tradovate: one seat per login, unless you pay Tradovate for more. The app reuses the session of the Tradovate page inside the app. It does not open a new one.
- TopstepX (ProjectX) and Rithmic have session limits too.
Fix
- Close places you do not need: old browser tabs, a second computer, the phone app.
- Remove any other copier from the same login.
- Log in again in Connections:
- Tradovate: log in on Tradovate's page. To open it, choose Show Tradovate page in the login's menu.
- Rithmic: enter your password again.
- TopstepX: enter your API key again.
- If it keeps happening, keep only your trading platform and the app logged in.
Does it close my trades?
No. A dropped login stops copying for that login. Open positions stay as they are. The app alerts you at once so you can act.
